“Organizes Italian language courses throughout the academic year. The courses are free of charge for students with international study grants and also for the following applicants if they will be at Florence University for at least a year: Ph. D. students, post-doctorate students and visiting professors. To attend a course, these students should: complete the appropriate form and forward it to the Socrates office in Florence at least one and a half months before the course interview. The interview aims to advise the student on the course s/he has chosen and is obligatory; complete a self-evaluation form that can be downloaded via the Internet. The form must be brought to the course interview. The Italian Language course form is downloadable from the Socrates/Erasmus webpages or can be requested from the Socrates office in Florence or from university Central International Offices in the student’s country. Forms are sent here if there are bilateral agreements. Course interview dates and self-evaluation forms can be found at the following address: http://www.cla.unifi.it/italiano.html. Courses last five weeks, for a total of fifty hours plus a further two hours where teachers are available for individual tutoring. Course attendance is obligatory. There are four levels: Pre-intermediate (A2), Intermediate 1 (B1), Intermediate 2 (B2) and Advanced (C1). The Centro Linguistico di Ateneo also organizes special courses in Italian for Academic Purposes for students who wish to improve specific study skills in Italian. These courses are available only for students enrolled in Florence University, for students with international study grants and for Socrates students and students with similar grants. To enrol in these courses, students should contact the Segretaria dei Corsi, Rotonda Brunelleschi. These courses last five weeks (intensive) or ten weeks (extensive), for a total of forty hours. Attendance is obligatory.
